In what can be described as an absolute form of foolishness in cricket, Sri Lanka's player Lakshan Sandakan forgot to touch the balls with the stumps while trying to run-out Steve Smith. The incident happened during Australia vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I at The Gabba Stadium in Brisbane. During the 2nd delivery of the 13th over, David Warner played a straight shot on Sandakan’s delivery. The ball directly hit the stumps at non-striker’s end. Non-striker Smith was well out of the crease and Sandakan had a brilliant chance to run-out the Australian batsman. Sandakan collected the ball quickly and needed to uproot stumps in order to dismiss Smith since the bails were already dislodged. However, the Chinaman bowler forgot to touch the stumps with the ball while uprooting the stumps. As a result, Smith was given not-out according to the laws of cricket. Sandakan was hilariously trolled on social media over the incident. Netizens took a dig at him saying "it is not gully cricket".
