After suffering a humiliating defeat of 102 runs with Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders have made a solid comeback in the tournament against Kings XI Punjab at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. After winning the toss, the hosts invited KKR to field. The decision could have been taken keeping in mind the previous results which stated that chasing teams have walked away with the victory. However, KKR was in the mood to break the record and turn the tide. The openers of the team Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine brought a partnership of 53 runs. After Chris Lynn departed, Robin Uthappa stuck around with Narine and brought up another 75 runs for the team. Narine’s innings ended on 75 off 36 balls as his innings comprised fours and four sixes but soon made way to the pavilion. Andre Russell and skipper Dinesh Karthik contributed to another 76 runs. When Kings XI Punjab walked into bat, they needed a good 100 runs plus partnership from the openers KL Rahul and Chris Gayle. However, after bringing up 57 runs for the team, Andre Russell scalped 3 important wickets of Gayle (21), Mayank Agarwal (0) and Karun Nair (3). Aaron Finch and Axar Patel tried to save the innings but failed to make an impact. Skipper Ashwin made 45 off 22 balls and Tye scored 14 off 10 but Prasidh Krishna got rid of both. None of the batsmen could stick around and KXIP lost the game by 31 runs.
