Chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav bowled a brilliant spell and picked up two important wickets to set Pakistan back and practically end their chances of chasing down India's total. Kuldeep broke the 100-runs plus partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam.
Both the batsmen were looking set and threatening to take the game away from India. But Kuldeep's twin strikes opened the floodgates for Pakistan as they lost back to back wickets.
Kuldeep Yadav first dismissed Fakhar Zaman, who was batting on 62. Kuldeep Yadav's bowling partner Yuzvendra Chahal took the catch after Fakhar Zaman mistimed the sweep.
However, it was his delivery to Babar Azam, that sealed the deal for India. Kuldeep's bowling figures read 32/2 in 9 overs. Pakistan slipped from 117/1 to 129/5 before rain stopped play. Kuldeep Yadav has 90 wickets off 47 matches in his ODI career so far.
India were off to a perfect start against arch-rivals Pakistan after being put into bat. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul scripted history by becoming the first Indian opening pair to record a 100+ run opening partnership against Pakistan at the World Cups. Rohit Sharma scored 140 and Virat Kohli hit 77 runs to help India get to 336/5 in 50 Overs.
