Former Indian team captain and Cricket Association of Bengal President Sourav Ganguly tweeted about the honour after the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the tweet he even thanked the ground staff for the same. He wrote, “CAB GETS IPL HONOURS The CAB is happy to inform that Eden Gardens has once again been awarded the best venue and ground of IPL 2018. Looking at the facilities, it was quite obvious for CAB to walk away with the honour. It was during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab that rain had interrupted the play. Once the thunderstorm and the rain stopped, the game commenced in 15 minutes. In fact even in 2016, during the ICC World T20 match between India and Pakistan, it was raining cats and dogs in Kolkata. Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali had come to the match. The match was scheduled to start at 7.30 but rains stopped at 6.45 PM. The efficient drainage system and high-quality cover imported from UK ensured that no damage was done to the outfield despite the heavy rains. Needless to say, CAB deserved the honour! Kudos to Ganguly.
