In an interview with a leading cricket portal, MSK Prasad said, “Of course, he is definitely part of the conversation, but we expect him to get runs if he has to make a comeback.” KL Rahul’s lack of form ushered the selectors to put him in the India A team which is currently playing against England Lions. The management was extremely disappointed with his form in the home series against West Indies and Australia. But he failed on both occasions and his form turned into a major concern for the selectors. However, Prasad believes that he is just a knock away from getting back into the groove. “Take that century in the Manchester T20. He is a batsman of supreme class. He has definitely failed in red-ball cricket, but you cannot look at the red-ball form in white-ball cricket. That is what we as selectors ought to consider. Also, he has had limited opportunities to play in ODIs owing to the good form of the regular opening pair of Rohit [Sharma] and Shikhar.” Talking about KL Rahul’s form against England Lions, he scored 55, 0 and 89 runs.
