Kl Rahul hit his sixth half-century in T20Is during the 3rd and final Twenty20 International encounter between India and Bangladesh at Nagpur. Rahul in the process also overtook compatriot Gautam Gambhir to become India’s seventh-highest run-scorer in Twenty20 Internationals. The right-hander, who arrived following the dismissal of stand-in captain Rohit Sharma, hit seven boundaries from 33 deliveries to complete his fifty. Rahul, 27, reached the milestone with a double off Soumya Sarkar in the fifth delivery of 12th over. He nudged the ball towards deep backward point to complete his maiden fifty against Bangladesh. He has now scored 974 runs from 31 T20I matches, overtaking Gambhir's tally of 932 runs from 37 games. Rahul also joined Yuvraj Singh on fouth in the list for most fifty-plus scores for Indian batsmen. Rahul, who has hit six half-centuries and two hundred, has eight fifty-plus scores the same as Yuvraj, who hit eight fifties. Gambhir, who Rahul overtook in Indian T20I run-scoring charts, has seven fifties.

From one run off four deliveries, Rahul smashed Shafiul for consecutive boundaries to get going. He also survived a difficult chance from the same bowler with Aminul missing a tough chance. Meanwhile, Bangladesh were off to a great start after skipper Mahmudullah had called right and sent India to bat. Shafiul, who had Rohit caught behind in the first T20I game at Delhi, clean-bowled him in just the second bowler to give Bangladesh a perfect start.
