Delhi are quite comfortably seated in the second place on the IPL 2020 points table with 14 points from 10 games, the same as their rivals MI on top and RCB in third. A win over KKR, who they beat by 18 runs in the previous fixture, will once again reclaim the top position for Delhi and also seal their spot in the final four.
This was the game KKR needed. The win they needed and they got there in a terrific fashion by outplaying Delhi Capitals. First Sunil Narine (64) and Nitish Rana (81) set the tone with a 115-run partnership for the fourth wicket after coming together with KKR reeling at 42/3 at one stage. Eoin Morgan then gave them a late flourish and helped KKR post 194 before Pat Cummins rattled Delhi Capitals with a first-ball wicket. Cummins also bowled the in-form Shikhar Dhawan. And then Varun Chakravarthy just ran through the middle-order and completed a five-wicket haul to complete the win.

Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant played cautiously after losing the openers early. The duo, however, need to step on the gas with the required run rate going over 13. Also, batting under floodlights daylight simultaneously will be a challenging job.
A couple of no-balls from Prasidh Krishna cost KKR 12 runs from the fifth over. But KKR have otherwise bowled well in the powerplay and finished it on 36-2. Nagarkoti bowls the final over the powerplay and concedes only three runs of it. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant are at the crease for Delhi Capitals and have a big task at hand.

This was a short-ball and Rana looked to pull it but could only top-edge the ball to Tushar Deshpande at mid-on. Rana goes for a fine 81 off just 53 deliveries. Captain Morgan also follows him after getting out in the final delivery of the innings. Stoinis ends with wickets in his final two deliveries.

KKR have fought back in the match with a magnificent partnership between Nitish Rana and Sunil Rana. The left-handed pair have stitched an 85-run stand between them in just 6.5 overs. Both have already completed their half-centuries and have put KKR back into the contest with a fiery partnership.
OUT! KKR are in deep trouble here. Dinesh Karthik is now dismissed and Kagiso Rabada has struck in his second over. This was a full-length delivery from Rabada and Karthik, who was looking to nudge it towards the leg side, plays across the line too early and nicks it behind to Rishabh Pant. The second place and number of wins under the belt give Delhi and captain Shreyas Iyer the option of resting their key players with playoff now only looking mere formalities. DC rested pacer Anrich Nortje against Punjab and could rest Kagiso Rabada for this game which would come as a big relief for KKR, who were blown away by RCB’s pace attack in their previous match.
KKR dished one of the worst batting performances this IPL against RCB and could only muster 84/8 in 20 overs after Mohammed Siraj ran through their top order. KKR were reeling at 3/3 at one stage and it was only captain Morgan’s 30 that helped them cross the 50-run barrier. Their batting have flopped throughout the season and injuries to Andre Russell and Sunil Narine haven’t helped either. In case, both are available against Delhi, Pat Cummins and Tom Banton could be dropped.
