West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard was fined 20 percent of his match fee for not following umpire’s instruction during India vs West Indies 2nd T20I match at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida. The West Indies player did not follow on-field umpires Nigel Duguid and Gregory Braithwaite’s instructions while substituting a player during the match, which was won by India. The incident occurred after Pollard called a substitute player into the field despite having being directed by the umpires that he has to make a request to umpires before calling a substitute. Pollard was also advised by the umpires to wait till the end of the over to call the substitute into the field. The right-handed batsman was found guilty of breaching Article 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which is related to disobeying umpire’s instructions. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Duguid and Braithwaite, third umpire Leslie Reifer and fourth official Patrick Gustard. Pollard denied the charge and a format hearing was held in the matter. After the hearing, Pollard was found guilty of the charges and hence fined and given demerit point on his record.

Meanwhile, India defeated West Indies by 22 runs in the 2nd T20I match. West Indies failed to reach the DLS par score of 120 while batting first while chasing 168 for victory. West Indies were reeling at 98 for 4 in 15.3 over when the rain stopped the play. Eventually, India emerged victorious through DLS method. India also clinched the three-match T20I series 2-0. The third T20 between India and West Indies will be played at Guyana on Tuesday.
