Khaleel Ahmed was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC), on October 29, after the culmination of India vs West Indies One Day International (ODI) match. Khaleel received an official warning and one demerit point, as per the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, after he advanced aggressively towards Marlon Samuels, after dismissing him during the match.

The young fast bowler was charged with Level 1 breach of Players Code of Conduct. The incident happened during the 15 over, when Khaleel Ahmed bowled Marlon Samuels and ran towards him, albeit in celebration, aggressively. However, the on-field umpires deemed the behaviour provoking. Ambati Rayudu Scores Century in 4th ODI Against West Indies; Virat Kohli Backs Batsman to Play at No.4 till 2019 World Cup.

Khaleel Ahmed violated the Article 2.5 of ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which is about ‘using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match’.

The left-arm pacer accepted the offence and the punishment announced by match referee Chris Broad. Since the player had admitted his offence, there wasn’t a need for a formal hearing. MS Dhoni's Lightning-Quick Stumping in 4th ODI Against Windies Video: A Look Back at Five Instances That Show Why MSD is One of The Greatest Wicket-Keepers of All Times!

Talking about Marlon Samuels’ wicket during the post-match presentation, Khaleel said, “I had planned Samuels' wicket. I wanted him to feel I'm bowling the inswinger, but I chose to bowl the other one to him. It paid off. I like to appeal a lot because that makes the batsman uncomfortable, even if I can't get a wicket.”

Khaleel Ahmed was quite animated throughout the match. His match figures read 5-0-13-3. India ended up winning the game by 224 runs; their biggest against a Test side, and third-highest overall. India are currently leading 2-1 in the five-match ODI series.
