After Australia set a target of 286 runs for England, Pietersen had tweeted that England can win the match by five wickets. After England struggled at 53/4 in the 14th over during the match, Twitterati mercilessly trolled him for his tweet. England is facing a tough time in World Cup 2019 tournament after losing 3 important matches in seven games. Other than Australia, they lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the World Cup 2019. England also lost their top ranking in ODIs after loss to Australia which was overtaken by India. England dropped to 122 ratings in ODI rankings, and India, who had 123 ratings, went one point above the World Cup 2019 hosts, leading their way to the top of the table of ICC ODI men’s team rankings.

England faces a tough competition for entering semis in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019  from Bangladesh and Pakistan, both of whom are presently following the hosts on the points table at fifth and sixth position respectively.
