Sri Lanka leg spinner Kevin Koththigoda has once hit the limelight for his unconventional bowling action. The 21-year-old, who is currently playing for Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League has grabbed attention for unorthodox bowling action. Koththigoda, who is the latest addition to Sri Lanka's long list of mystery spinners, managed to grab eyeballs with his uncommon bowling action but couldn't back with his performances. In two overs, during Bangla Tigers' first match in T10 League, Koththigoda gave away 22 runs and remained wicket-less.

Koththigoda bowled to Deccan Gladiators’ opening pair of Shane Watson and Anton Devcich but despite his unorthodox action, Watson and Devcich had little trouble in playing him. Former Australian World Cup-winner, Watson especially meted out special treatment to the mystery Sri Lanka spinner taking to the cleaners during his 25-ball 41 runs.

Kevin Koththigoda's Unorthodox Action

Fans have started comparing Koththigoda’s unorthodox action to former South African spinner Paul Adams, whose ‘frog in a blender’ action had taken the cricketing world by storm a couple of decades ago.

What's This Action Called

Right-Handed Paul Adams

Another Paul Adams

Koththigoda was first seen during the 2017 U19 Asia Cup with his unusual action grabbing the headlines. “He has a very unusual action. It’s like that of Paul Adams. The action wasn’t coached or anything, it came naturally to him. Initially, he was struggling with the length as he couldn’t see the pitch, but he has improved tremendously,” his coach Dhammika Sudarshana was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz during the tournament in 2017.
