A few months ago, there was a lot of hullabaloo about the Kerala Cricket Association digging up the FIFA approved world class turf for an ODI match against the West Indies. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar also appealed the Kerala Cricket Association to not dig up the turf of Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi for an ODI match. He instead had suggested that the match should be shifted to Thiruvananthapuram so that football and cricket could co-exist. The turf was last used to play the U-17 football World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar Worried About Kochi Football: Wants Football & Cricket To Co-Exist

In a tweet, Sachin had written, “Worried about the potential damage to the FIFA approved World class Football turf in Kochi. Urge the KCA to take the right decision where cricket (Thiruvananthapuram) and Football (Kochi) can happily coexist."
