Kate Cross, England bowler, was involved in a hilarious brain-fade moment while attempting a run-out during the England vs West Indies, second T20 encounter at Nottingham on Saturday. Cross had a clear opportunity of effecting a run-out during the West Indies innings but the fast bowler goofed up the chance by not throwing the ball to the wicket-keeper when the batswoman at her end was way out of her crease. The mistake soon became the talking point from the match and social media roasted her for the botching the clear run-out chance. IND vs AFG, ICC CWC 2019: Esha Gupta, Kriti Kharbanda, Sonu Sood Cheer for Mohammed Shami’s Hat-trick That Helped Team India Win against Afghanistan.

The Lancashire cricketer was bowling in the over when one of her delivery was hit in the cover region. The West Indies batswomen attempted to steal quick runs. But a fast throw resulted in a huge confusion between them with the non-striker stranded in the middle of the pitch. The ball reached Cross – who was standing near the stumps – at the non-striker’s end. But in a comedy of errors, Cross instead of removing the bails at her end threw the ball to wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor.

Cross had ample time to effect a run-out at her hand with neither of the two West Indies batswomen in sight. However, in what will be her forever brain fade moment, the right-arm fast bowler threw the ball back to the wicket-keeper at whose end the batswomen had already crossed the line. It resulted in no run-outs giving West Indies a sigh of relief. You can also watch the video Here.

Kate Cross Had a Deal?

She later defended herself by mentioning that she did not attempt to run-out the West Indies batswomen at her end because she had already dislodged the bails prior to the throw. "Good to see I didn’t panic on live TV because there was a bail on the floor at my end," tweeted Cross from her official Twitter handle.

It, however, had little effect in the final outcome of the game as England ran out comfortable winners. The Englishwomen beat the West Indies by 42 runs. Cross though was far from having a good game. She was the most expensive bowler in the England attack conceding 30 runs in her three overs without any wicket.

England batted first and posted 18o runs on board with Danielle Wyatt slamming 81 runs off just 55 deliveries, which included 10 fours. She was involved in a 67-run opening partnership with fellow opener Ellen Jones, who made 37 from 27 balls. Natalie Sciver (31) and captain Heather Knight (22) also made substantial contributions. In reply, the West Indies were restricted to 138/9 at the end of 20 overs.
