Two cricketers have been arrested over corruption charges in Karnataka Premier League 2019. Former Karnataka Ranji player CM Gautam and Abrar Kazi were arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Thursday for their alleged involvement in the spot-fixing during Karanataka Premier League 2019. Both the players played for Bellary Tuskers in KPL 2019. According to reports, both the cricketers committed spot-fixing in the Karnataka Premier League 2019 final game.

The KPL 2019 final was played between Bellary Tuskers and Hubli Tigers on August 31, 2019. Tuskers lost the match by 8 runs in the end. Both the cricketers allegedly took Rs 20 lakh bribe for slow batting in the match. Both are also reported for match-fixing in another match against Bengaluru Blasters team in KPL 2019. CM Gautam is a former India-A player, who also played for Ranji teams Karnataka and Goa earlier. He has also featured in several editions of Indian Premier Leagues, where he represented Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kazi had played for Karnataka state team before transferring to another state.

Earlier on Tuesday, cricketer Nishanth Singh Shekhawat was also arrested by the Karnataka police in connection with the KPL spot-fixing case. He was accused of fixing a KPL match in 2018 between Bangalore and Belgavi team, during which he allegedly played slow and received 5 lakh as a bribe. The police had also arrested Belgavi Panthers team's owner Ali, Bengaluru Blasters bowling coach Vinu Prasad and batsman Vishwanathan.
