England completed a 3-0 clean sweep of Sri Lanka and won the third and final Test by 42. With it, the Joe Root-led side became the first English Test side to perform a whitewash in Asia. It was a productive tour for England, as they defeated the hosts in all three formats. England won the One-Day International (ODI) series 3-1, then the one-off T20I and now the Test series. After the win, England skipper Root was seen playing a guitar while his teammates danced and sang along to celebrate the impressive win. Following the win, Root said that he was proud of everyone and always knew that they will win.
“Proud of everyone, brilliant performance from the whole squad. Not surprised, we knew we were capable of winning here. The learning and ability within the squad, we can keep improving. That's been our secret - been able to bring different guys in - pick a team that can take 20 wickets and post scores that could put pressure on the opponents. “You can't look past that. The experienced players have taken the extra responsibility. It's been exceptional. It's been a complete team effort, it's been a great tour. Proud of my team.
