Ashok Dinda was brutally hit by the ball while practising for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy a few days ago. The Bengal pacer got hit on his forehead and collapsed on the ground immediately. He was rushed to the hospital for an MRI and fortunately did not suffer from anything serious. He was advised to rest for a couple of days. With this, Jaydev Unadkat and Ravichandran Ashwin have recommended face masks for bowlers to avoid any untoward incident. The Bengal cricketer threw a full toss delivery to young batsman Vivek Singh who played a shot that hit Dinda back on the face. Ashok Dinda Suffers Injury on His Forehead During Practice Session for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at Eden Gardens (Watch Video).

Jaydev took to social media and wrote, “About time that a “face-mask” for bowlers makes its way into all that has evolved in cricket. Its scary how this kind of incidents have become frequent in our game! Hope you good Dinda @dindaashoke .. What do you say Ash bhai? @ashwinravi99.”  Ravichandran Ashwin responded to the tweet and wrote back, “Been saying it since 2011, these kind of incidences never used to happen in the pre T 20 Era. Something has surely changed , wonder what it is🤔.”

Talking about the Vijay Hazare trophy, 2011 champions Bengal open their domestic T20 campaign against Mizoram in their group D fixture at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on February 21. Bengal failed to make the final at home last season after finishing third in the Super League Group B.
