Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out of India vs England Second Test at Lord’s
However, the pacer was seen bowling in the nets and looks like the Indian team management is in no hurry to bring him back in the playing XI.
Trailing 0-1 in the five-match series, Indian cricket team yet again will be without the service of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as they take on England in the second Test at Lord’s, which starts from August 09 onwards. Bumrah has failed to recover from a thumb injury and thus is unavailable for selection. Earlier, he was touted to be fit from the second Test onwards. However, the pacer was seen bowling in the nets and looks like the Indian team management is in no hurry to bring him back in the playing XI.
"Jasprit Bumrah is bowling fit right now but I think it's too early to put him into a game-like situation because, I think, he needs to come out of the band-aid/plaster on his hand. For the second Test, he is out of contention," Bharat Arun, India's bowling coach, was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. During the first T20 International against Ireland, Bumrah suffered the thumb injury on his non-bowling hand and was subsequently ruled out of the T20I and ODI series against England. He was included in the Test squad and was available to play from the second Test.
India lost the opening Test at Edgbaston by 31 runs and will be looking to draw level in the series at Lord’s. The Indian team is already without Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has been out of first three Tests following a back problem.
