James Anderson’s Car Hit Outside Team's Hotel Ahead of Ashes 2019 Opener in Edgbaston

Just a few hours before the start of the Ashes 2019 Day 1, England pacer James Anderson met with an untoward incident. Before the pacer could step on the Edgbaston Cricket Ground for the match, Anderson’s car was hit outside the team hotel. Fortunately, Anderson was not inside the car and obviously had no injuries. The details of the incident are yet to be known. It was also said that Stuart Broad his bowling partner brought him the pictures of the car. However, hours after the incident, he stepped on to the field and looked as sharp. Though Anderson could not get any wicket from the first innings of the game, he bowled for four overs and delivered three maidens giving away only one run. Talking about the game, after winning the toss, the Australian team decided to bat first and lost wickets very quickly as they lost their openers in the first 10 overs of the game. Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes provided early breakthroughs for England. Stuart Broad snapped five wickets, whereas Chris Woakes got three. Despite losing wickets in quick successions, it was Steve Smith who kept fighting and brought the visitors to a respectable score of 284 runs. Smith scored 144 runs and made a terrific comeback into the Test.
