Anderson had also taken five wickets in the first innings of the  match. The fantastic bowling saw the 'master of swing' take 5-20 in conditions which were suitable for his bowling.

James Anderson, with the wickets of Vijay and Rahul, has become only the second bowler in the history of the game to have taken 100 or more wickets on a single venue.

The only bowler to have achieved this feat before is Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan, who has taken 100 wickets on three grounds namely, Colombo’s Singhalese Sports Club Ground, Kandy’s Asgiriya stadium and at Galle. Anderson is also on the verge of becoming the most successful fast bowler in Test Cricket history, in terms of taking wickets. The English great has already taken 551 wickets and is only 13 wickets short of achieving that distinction and replacing the Australian pace legend Glenn McGrath, who has 563 wickets to his name.
