Virat Kohli-led team India on Sunday took a 2-1 lead in the four-match series against Australia. The visitors defeated Australia by 137 runs in the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) after rain washed out the entire first session on day five. Needing two more wickets to win the match, India finished the deal in 4.3 overs.

Following the victory, Kohli took to Twitter and said he was proud of his team. “What a win!! Proud to be part of this unit. Onto Sydney now. Jai hind,” Kohli tweeted along with the pictures of post-match celebrations. Virat Kohli a Victory Away from Becoming the First Ever Indian Captain to Win a Test Series in Australia.

After the win, speaking at the post-match presentation, Kohli emphasised on Test series win and said that the team is not going to stop here. “We are not going to stop here. This (win) will give us more confidence and we will play more positively in Sydney. I think we have been really smart in all the departments in the two matches that we have won. That is the reason we have at least retained the trophy but the job is not done yet,” Kohli said. Virat Kohli-led Team India Wins Boxing Day Test by 137 Runs, Take Unassailable 2-1 Lead in the Series.

“It's not finished at all. We want to win the last Test match as well if an opportunity comes our way. We don't want to be complacent. We are all but ready for the final Test match,” the Indian captain added.

Fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the man of the match for his nine wickets, which included 6/33 in the first innings. It was Bumrah’s six-wicket haul that helped India secure a massive first-innings lead of 292 runs and set the tone for the win. Ind vs Aus 3rd Test 2018-19: Twitter Reacts As India Retains Border-Gavaskar Trophy Following Win at MCG

The last Test match starts on January 03 at Sydney and India will be looking to clinch the historic series. India has never won a Test series in Australia and if they manage to win or draw the final Test, it will apparently be their first-ever series win on Australian soil.
