It's an Honour to Captain the Indian Cricket Team, Says Virat Kohli Ahead of IND vs ENG 2nd Test at Lord's
Skipper Kohli would be in a dilemma, again, in context of the first XI players. Come Thursday; it will be intriguing to see what the playing XI of the Indian team is.
In the press conference ahead of India vs England second Test match, skipper Virat Kohli seemed quite abrasive. After receiving a lot of flak from all quarters for his underwhelming captaincy and dubious selection choices in the first Test match, Kohli said that it was an honour for him to the captain of the Indian national team.
Captain Virat Kohli said, “I am doing as much as I can as a captain. Everybody has different points of view of captaincy but I think I have really good communication with every player & being in the right mindset is the key for a captain.” He further added, “It's an honour for me to be the captain of our national team.”
KL Rahul was chosen over Cheteshwar Pujara in the first Test match. Given the recent form that players are in, it would have been Shikhar Dhawan who should have faced the axe. The match conditions were testing and remained bowler-friendly throughout; however, it was India’s shot selection in the middle that drew a lot of criticism.
Nonetheless, Virat Kohli was the best player in the Indian line-up. Out of the total 436 runs scored by India in both the innings, Kohli’s contribution was 200; nearly 50 per cent of the score. Under immense pressure, he scored his first Test century (22nd overall) in England.
