After missing out on Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018) contract, Ishant Sharma headed to England to take part in the County cricket. The tall pacer has been in decent form for Sussex with the red ball and in Division Two of the championship, the pacer managed to pick 15 wickets from four matches with best of 4/52. In Royal London One-Day Cup, Ishant has continued his good show. In six matches, the fast-bowler has picked eight wickets and has maintained an economy of 4.81 runs per over.

Meanwhile, playing against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, Ishant bowled a superb delivery to get rid of opener Nicholas Selman. In the fourth over of the Glamorgan chase, Ishant went past the batsman’s defence to rattle the stumps behind.

It was the first breakthrough for Sussex as Selman was dismissed on an individual score of 15 off 14 balls. Ishant eventually finished with figures of 2/65 in 9.2 overs as Sussex lost the match by six wickets. The fast-bowler along with Chris Jordan picked two wickets each.

Chasing 278, Glamorgan were powered by captain Colin Ingram’s unbeaten 95 off 86 balls. The left-handed batsman smashed ten fours and a couple of sixes. He along with added unbeaten 98 runs for the fifth wicket with Kiran Carlson to guide his side to the victory. Earlier batting first, Michael Burgess and David Wiese scored half-centuries to help Sussex post 277.

Meanwhile, Ishant will be eyeing a place in the Indian Test squad for the upcoming England tour. India will face England in three T20 Internationals and as many One-Day Internationals (ODIs) ahead of the five-match Test series, which starts on August 01.
