Ireland registered a brilliant victory against South Africa in the third ODI of the three-match series played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The Irish team led by Paul Stirling put up a score of 284/9 and restricted the Proteas for a score of 215 runs to register a consolation win against the opposition. Stirling played a brilliant knock of 88 runs from 92 balls which included eight fours and three sixes. Harry Tector also smashed 60 runs off 48 balls and batted with a strike rate of 125. On the other hand, chasing down the target, the South African innings never got going and they lost the match by 69 runs. Batting first, the Irish team got off to a brilliant start with Andy Balbirnie and Paul Stirling putting up 101 runs for the first wicket. Balbirnie played a knock of 45 runs from 73 balls. After Balbirnie got out, Stirling took the onus on himself and kept the scoreboard ticking from the other end. Curtis Campher and Lorcan Tucker played some cameo knocks of 34 and 26 runs respectively. Chasing down the target, South Africa didnt get off to a decent start and were 10/3 at one stage. The wickets continued to tumble until Jason Smith walked out to bat. However, once he got out, the Proteas' tumbled and ended up losing the match.
