Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are reportedly expected to retain Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi and the uncapped duo of Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The last date for the franchises to announce their IPL 2025 retentions is fast approaching and the think tanks of several teams are making decisions on which players to retain and for whom to use the 'Right to Match' (RTM) card for at the mega auction. With this development, KL Rahul's exit from Lucknow Super Giants seems imminent, after reports from earlier on stated that the franchise captain will not be retained by LSG and is instead headed for the mega auction. As per a report from ESPN Cricinfo, the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise have zeroed in on their choices for IPL 2025 retentions. Nicholas Pooran, who has served deputy to KL Rahul and has even led the Lucknow Super Giants in the past, will be the franchise's first retention with Mayank Yadav being the second pick and Ravi Bishnoi the third. With both Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni still uncapped, LSG can retain them for Rs 4 crore each. After qualifying for the playoffs in their first two seasons, the Lucknow Super Giants experienced a difficult time in IPL 2024 where they scored seven wins out of 14 matches, finishing seventh on the points table. One of their lowest points of the IPL 2024 season came when owner Sanjiv Goenka publicly fumed at KL Rahul after LSG had suffered a crushing defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will look to make some impactful acquisitions in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions, which reportedly is slated to be held outside India.
