IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Deepak Chahar Eyeing Reunion With CSK, Says 'I Think They Will Bid For Me Again'
Out of India favour bowler, Deepak Chahar has expressed his desire to don CSK's jersey again. Chahar first played for CSK in IPL 2016.
Once the back of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling, Deepak Chahar has not enjoyed much success with the franchise in the last few years due to injury concerns and lack of form, which witnessed the player not get retained ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Mega Auction. However, the 32-year-old pacer has expressed a belief that CSK will bid for the bowler in the upcoming IPL 2025 Mega Auction. In an interview with Times of India, Chahar stated that he wishes to go back to CSK and don the yellow jersey again. Chahar highlighted how CSK picked the pacer in the last Mega Auction, spending as much as INR 14 Crore in 2022, for the bowler's skill set.
Chahar also pointed out which other franchise he would like to play for if not CSK, which was IPL's first-ever champion the Rajasthan Royals (RR). For the uninitiated, Chahar plays all his domestic cricket for Rajasthan. 'I think they will bid for me again. I would like to don the yellow jersey again, and if not that, then I would want the Rajasthan Royals to bid for me', Chahar said.
Chahar first joined CSK in IPL 2018 moving from Rising Pune Super Giants, where Dhoni witnessed the bowler's potential. In 76 appearances for the five-time IPL-winning franchise, Chahar has claimed as many wickets, which include CSK's title-winning campaigns in 2018,2021 and 2023.
CSK's Remaining Purse For IPL 2025 Mega Auction
For the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, CSK have a total of INR 55 Crore purse after spending INR 65 Crore in IPL Retentions. CSK have retained their captain Rituraj Gaikwad, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube, bowler Matheesha Pathirana, and former skipper MS Dhoni.
