IPL 2024 Auction Likely To Be Held in Dubai Between December 15–19: Report

The BCCI is reportedly thinking of having the much-awaited player auction outside the country with Dubai being the likely venue. The IPL 2023 auction was held in Kochi on December 23.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction looks set to move out of India with Dubai being considered as a venue to host the much-awaited event. Cricket fans often wait for the IPL auction to take place where a number of top players from all over the world go under the hammer with 10 franchises fighting it out to secure their services. The IPL 2023 auction was held in Kerala on December 13. As per a report in the Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the tentative dates for the auction would be something between December 15-19. Shane Bond Named Rajasthan Royals' Assistant and Fast Bowling Coach for IPL 2024.

Kochi was fixed as the venue last year although there were talks of having the event in Istanbul last year. The report also states that the BCCI have informed all the IPL franchises of this. Although these are yet to be finalised, the trading window is open with all the franchises being able to make trades and build their squads ahead of the next edition.

While the IPL 2024 auction might be held in Dubai, the venue for the WPL 2024 auction is likely to remain in India. The WPL 2024 auction date could be December 9, although it has not been finalised yet, states the report. The venue for the event is undecided as well. The BCCI had earlier released the list of the players that all five franchises in the WPL have retained and released ahead of the next edition of the competition.
