With IPL 2020 updates on social media, the fans are wondering about the starting and dates and other details of the tournament. Now as per the reports suggest that the BCCI is currently waiting for the approval from the Indian government to conduct the IPL 2020. The cash-rich event is likely to be held in UAE with a fewer number of cases in the country. The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has already asked the state boards to begin preparing for the event. The Indian Premier League 13 which was supposed to be conducted in March 2020, but all thanks to the coronavirus which has sent the sporting schedules for a toss. IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel told India Today: "Hopefully, in next couple of weeks (BCCI) will seek clearances from the government for the tournament (IPL) to be played in the UAE." He further added that they are are very much aware of the situation in UAE as their government has offered the BCCI to conduct the tournament. This is not the first time that the IPL would be happening at a different venue. the first leg of the IPL 2014 was held in UAE. Prior to that in 2009, the tournament was held in South Africa.
Another official on the condition of anonymity said that the further plans will be discussed in the upcoming weeks. India was the first preference for the IPL 2020 was India but due to the increasing number of cases in the country, the BCCI thought it would be ideal to shift the tournament.
