Indian Premier League’s tagline over the years have been “Where talent meets opportunity” and the league – which enjoys a special status in the international stage and is seen as the biggest T20 franchise league in the world of cricket – have always lived true to its tagline. From a young Ravindra Jadeja and Yusuf Pathan playing revealing themselves to the cricketing world through IPL to Rishabh Pant blasting opponents with willow on his hands, the IPL has always been a stage where young and talented professionals become household names in one prolific season.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (Base Price 20 Lakh)
The youngest batsman ever to smash a double century in List A cricket, 17-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal struck 25 sixes in six matches in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. His double hundred also came in the same competition against Jharkhand in which he scored 203 runs from only 154 deliveries, which included 17 fours and 12 massive sixes. An opening batsman by trade, Yashasvi is touted the next big thing in Indian cricket. He scored 564 runs in six Vijay Hazare innings with an astonishing average of 112.80 and had three centuries and a fifty to his name. He could go big and attract a biggy salary cap at the auctions.
Virat Singh (Base Price 20 Lakh)
A Virat player, from whom left is right. The left-handed batsman from Jharkhand was a standout performer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 343 runs at an average of 57.17 in 10 games. In the Vijay Hazare, Virat scored 335 runs in 7 matches with a strike rate above 100 and has all it takes to go big at the IPL 2020 player auctions.
Priyam Garg (Base Price 20 Lakh)
Priyam Garg smashed 867 runs at a staggering average of 66.69 in 12 First-Class matches for Uttar Pradesh. The Under-15 captain already has three centuries to his name and scored 539 runs in 15 List A matches. He might still be too young to feature in any IPL playing XI but T20 cricket is for those that are brave. And Garg has never been any less brave.
R Sai Kishore (Base Price 20 Lakh)
At 6 foot 3 inches, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore is already one of the tallest spinners in the country. A 23-year-old player from Tamil Nadu, Kishore finished Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as the highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets and an impressive economy of 4.63. Just the fact that 12 of his 20 wickets in the domestic T20 tournament came in the Powerplay overs show how good an opening bowler he already is. He went unsold in 2018 but has come a long way since then and has been a standout for Tamil Nadu this season. Spinners, who can bowl in the Powerplay have always been in high demand in the IPL and with Kishore being a left-arm spinner might just put him ahead.
Ravi Bishnoi (Base Price 20 Lakh)
A leg-spinner who boasts of a terrific googly in his arsenal. Ravi Bishnoi is also a handy lower-order batsman and a good fielder. He, to say in short, is the perfect example of being this modern generation's three-dimensional player. The player from Rajasthan scalped 12 wickets in 7 matches at an economy rate of 4.37 and could be the perfect wrist-spinner many IPL teams crave for.
Recent performances have always played an important role in attracting IPL bids and all these players have been among the many standouts in the recently concluded domestic tournaments. They have been in supreme form and don’t be surprised if they spark bidding wars among franchises in the IPL 2020 player auctions.
