The IPL 2020 players auction went underway on December 19 in Kolkata. Chris Lynn and Eoin Morgan were the first two players to go under the hammer and they went to Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The former went at his base price of 2 crores while the England limited-overs captain bagged a whopping amount of 5.25 crores. Lynn, who was the part of KKR set-up till last year, was in sensational form during the recently concluded Abu Dhabi T10 league and thus it was quite surprising that many teams didn’t go for him. On the other hand, Morgan has put some good T20 performances in recent times and KKR will expect him to continue his good run. Morgan played his IPL game for Sunrisers back in 2017 and will be making his comeback in the gala-tournament. The World Cup-winning skipper has enjoyed a run which earned him a huge bid. Morgan has also been the part of Knight Riders previously and must be quite familiar to the dressing room. On the other hand, it will be interesting to see whether Lynn will get a chance ahead of Quinton de Kock who was sensational in the previous season.
Well, the auctions for the forthcoming season has just been started and it will be interesting what the other players will get. The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmyer are expected to fetch money while among the bowlers, Sheldon Cottrell and Andrew Tye can attract the players.
