IPL 2020 player contract extensions were announced on Friday (November 15). A total of 127 players were retained by the eight franchises. These included 35 overseas players. November 15 was the deadline for players’ extension contracts as the IPL 2020 auction is set to take place on December 19 in Kolkata. Royal Challengers have released the most number of players 12 while Sunrisers Hyderabad have released the least number of five players from their squad. Below we will look at the full list of players released and retained by teams for IPL 2020. We will also look at the complete squad composition of eight IPL teams after the player contract extensions.

Talking about franchises' squad post extensions, CSK have 20 players in their squad which is the highest number of players in any team. RCB have 13 players in their squad which is the least number of players for any team. Some notable players released by franchises were David Miller by Kings XI Punjab. Robin Uthappa and Carlos Brathwaite were released by Kolkata Knight Riders. Dale Steyn, Tim Southee and Shimron Hetmyer were released from RCB along with 12 other players.
