The season 12 of Indian Premier League will begin on March 23, 2019. The opening match will take place at the M Chinnaswamy stadium between the defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB). Mumbai Indians' skipper Rohit Sharma in a recent press conference confirmed that he would open the batting for all the games in the IPL 2019. Last season, the right-handed batsman opened for Mumbai Indians in only first two matches. Rohit might have taken this decision keeping in mind about the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, where he will open the innings for India.

The right-handed Indian batsman also added that overseas players always contribute well for the team. The focus will be on seven domestic players. He mentioned that MI players like Krunal Pandya, Yuvraj Singh, Mayank Markande and Siddhesh Lad have an excellent opportunity to create an impact in this tournament.

Rohit Sharma appreciated scouts of Mumbai Indians to have found star players like Jasprit Bumrah, who made his IPL debut at the age of 19. Mumbai Indians will play their first match of the IPL 2019 season at Wankhede stadium on March 24, 2019, against Delhi Capitals.
