Fans who are eagerly waiting to watch the Indian Premier League matches live in the stadiums, might be sad after reading this piece of news. As per reports, the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League 2019 might be conducted overseas and the event is being advanced to the months of March-April due to to the general elections in India. However, the schedule and the venues for the same will be announced only after the Indian government announced the dates for the general elections. IPL 2019 Auction Highlights: Know Which Player Was Bought by Which Team in the Indian Premier League 12 Auctions in Jaipur.

However, a source from the BCCI also mentioned the board is keen on hosting the tournaments in India. “While the effort is to keep the entire tourney in India, a lot will depend on the dates of the general elections,” according to a BCCI insider. The report further states that the board is actually considering four options. Caravan format is one option that the BCCI could explore, in which all the teams travel together to all the venues — with 5-8 venues for a total of 60 matches.

The cricketing body could also organise matches in smaller and non-conflicted stadiums within the country. The third option is where the BCCI could hold some matches in India and rest in the UAE like in 2014. The last option is holding the entire tourney in South Africa like in 2009.

“We are also planning to advance the whole league to March-April, like in 2010 so that it can finish ahead of elections and there is a good rest period for the players before ICC World Cup,” one of the sources said.
