The Indian Premier League 2019 schedule could be announced on Monday, February 03, by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Reportedly, the IPL 2019 schedule will be a provisional one with changes made as and when required. As per a report in the Mumbai Mirror, the schedule will be a tentative one as the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet announced the dates of General Elections. Earlier in January, it was confirmed by BCCI, that IPL 2019 will be held in India and not overseas with a possible start date of March 23. Initially, it was reported that due to General Elections the IPL 2019 will be moved out of India just like in 2009 and 2014. In 2009, IPL was held in South Africa while in 2014, the tournament was initially held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and later part took place in India.

The IPL 2019 is likely to culminate in the second week of May, which is at least 15 days prior to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 that will be played in England from May 30 onwards. The upcoming edition of IPL will also witness the absence of prominent overseas players from Australia, who will be part of the World Cup squad. Apart from it, England, South Africa, and Sri Lankan players will leave early to prepare for the World Cup. However, New Zealand players will stay till the end of IPL 2019.
