The 12th season of Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019) is all set to commence on March 23. The IPL started way back in 2008 and has grown in stature since then. The IPL has mostly been an eight-team affair. In 2011 edition of the league, a total of ten teams participated. Teams like Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors India, Rising Pune Supergiant, Gujarat Lions and Kochi Tuskers Kerala have been part of IPL but later got discounted due to different reasons. On the other hand, Delhi Daredevils changed their name to Delhi Capitals for the upcoming season.

The IPL 2019 kicks off from March 23 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). As of now, the IPL 2019 schedule of two weeks has been released due to the Lok Sabha elections in April and May. Highest Total in IPL: 263/5 by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is the highest team total in IPL. RCB recorded the total against now-defunct Pune Warriors India during the 2013 edition of IPL. RCB also holds the second highest team total in IPL, which is 248/3 against Gujarat Lions in 2016.

Lowest Total in IPL: In 2017, Royal Challengers Bangalore were bundled out for just 49 runs and it remains the lowest team total in IPL. RCB were batting second against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Delhi Daredevils now Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 67 runs against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and it is the lowest total while batting first.

Biggest Win in IPL: Mumbai Indian registered a 146-run against Delhi Capitals in 2017 and it is the largest victory in terms of runs in IPL. Delhi were bundled out for just 66 runs while chasing a target of 213 runs.

Most Runs in IPL: Suresh Raina holds the record of most runs in IPL. He has scored 4985 runs from 172 innings. Raina has played ten seasons for CSK and two for now discarded Gujarat Lions. Highest Individual Score in IPL: In 2013, Chris Gayle while playing for RCB scored unbeaten 175 off just 66 balls against Pune Warriors India. Brendon McCullum’s unbeaten 158 for KKR against RCB during the inaugural edition is at second place.

Most 50+ Scores in IPL: David Warner has 39 fifty-plus scores against his name from 114 innings. The left-hander has represented teams like Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kohli occupies second place with 38 scores of 50 or over.

Most Centuries in IPL: Chris Gayle leads the list with six centuries in IPL. The left-hander has thus far played 112 matches. Kohli and former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson have scored four centuries each.

Most Ducks in IPL: Harbhajan Singh holds the infamous record of most ducks in IPL. The CSK player has been dismissed 13 times on nought. Most Sixes in IPL: No surprises here! It is the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, who has slammed most number of sixes in IPL history. Gayle has smashed a whopping 292 sixes while playing for KXIP, KKR, and RCB. AB de Villiers is at second but has smashed 105 less sixes than Gayle. ABD has 187 sixes against his name. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina have smashed 186 and 185 sixes respectively.

Most Wickets in IPL: Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in IPL with 154 wickets from 110 matches against his name. Leg-spinner Amit Mishra is at second spot with 146 wickets.

Best Bowling Figures in IPL: Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir still holds the record of best bowling figures in IPL. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) Tanvir picked 6/14 during the inaugural edition of IPL. In 2016, Adam Zampa scalped 6/19 while playing for Rising Pune Supergiant and holds the second place.

Most Dismissals by Wicketkeeper in IPL: Dinesh Karthik holds the record of most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in IPL. The current KKR skipper has affected 124 dismissals from 168 matches. MS Dhoni is at second place with 116 dismissals.

Highest Partnership in IPL: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers shared 229-run stand for the second wicket for RCB against Gujarat Lions in 2016. It is the highest partnership in IPL’s history for any wicket.

Most Matches in IPL: Suresh Raina has played most matches in IPL, 176. He is followed closely by MS Dhoni, who has played 175 matches. Both these players have played the majority of their matches for CSK and currently play for the Chennai-based franchise.

Most Title Wins in IPL: Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have won three IPL titles each, which is the record. CSK in 2010, 2011 and 2018 while MI in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Kolkata Knight Riders have won the title twice (2012 and 2014). Rajasthan Royals (2008), now defunct Deccan Chargers (2009) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2016) have won IPL once.
