The Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL) auction will be held on December 18. Apparently, it will be a one-day affair only.  Jaipur has been selected as the host city for the IPL 2019 players auction. It is pertinent to mention that the IPL 2019 could be held in South Africa or in UAE due to the general elections in the country and some franchises are unhappy with the timing of IPL auction 2019. “We wanted the auction to be conducted after the venue is known so that we could have chosen our players accordingly but the BCCI has its own timelines to follow,” a franchise official was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Meanwhile, Australian and England cricketers will not be available for IPL 2019 beyond May 01 due to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which starts on May 31 in England. In view of the World Cup, chances are most of the overseas players will be unavailable towards the last leg of the IPL 2019, particularly playoffs and final. Though there is no official confirmation regarding the same. It will be interesting to see whether cricket boards will allow their contracted players to play the IPL 2019 till the end or not.
