IPL 2018: Will Be Back Next Year 'Stronger', Says SRH Opener Shikhar Dhawan
SRH had previously won the IPL title in 2016 under David Warner’s captaincy.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ended as runners-up of Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018) The Kane Williamson-led side lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final. Despite not being able to win the title, Sunrisers had a very good campaign. They played some good cricket in the league-stage, though towards the end of it lost the momentum. However, in playoffs, the team bounced back and qualified for the finals. Team’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan following the finals defeat took to Twitter and said that the team has not lost the spirit.
The left-handed batsman promised that SRH will be back next year stronger and more determined. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. We might have lost the match, but we haven't lost our spirit. We will be back next year, stronger and more determined. A big Thank You to all the fans for the tremendous love and support you showed throughout the season,” read Dhawan’s tweet. Dhawan personally was in decent form and scored 497 runs from 16 matches. Averaging 38.23 with the bat, the left-hander smashed four half-centuries as well.
Sunrisers' campaign received a setback ahead of the tournament as David Warner, their regular captain, was banned following the ball-tampering incident. The team had to regroup under new captain Kane Williamson. The New Zealand player was impressive both with his captaincy and batting as he took Sunrisers to their second IPL final. SRH had previously won the title in 2016 under Warner’s captaincy.
