With the culmination of round-robin or lease stage matches, IPL 2018 heads into its final week. Just four matches remain now in the IPL 2018, including the final on Sunday, May 27. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) made it to the playoffs after gruelling league stage matches. The first round of IPL 2018 comprised of 56 matches as we witnessed some riveting clashes.
As IPL 2018 now moves into next round- Playoffs, we take a look back at the round-robin stage of the tournament through some stats:
Most Runs: Delhi Daredevils’ wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant at the end of the league stage matches has emerged as top run-getter. The left-handed batsman managed to score 684 from 14 matches at an average of 52.61. Besides a century, Pant smashed five half-centuries. The Delhi batsman may not end with most runs this season as SRH captain Kane Williamson is just three runs behind him and he has at least two matches at his disposal. IPL 2018 Orange Cap
Most Wickets: In the bowling department, Kings XI Punjab’s Andrew Tye holds the first spot with 24 wickets. He picked three four-wicket hauls from 14 matches. Highest Team Total: KKR’s 245 for six against KXIP in Indore is the highest total of IPL 2018 so far. It also happens to be the fourth-highest team total in the history of IPL. DD’s 219/4 is the second highest total of IPL 2018. List of Highest Team Totals in IPL History
Lowest Team Total: SRH, who was the first team to make it to the playoffs, were bundled out for just 87 runs by Mumbai Indians in a league stage match. It is lowest team total of the IPL 2018 so far followed by KXIP 87 against RCB.
Highest Individual Score: After being dropped from the Indian T20I squad for England and Ireland series, Rishabh Pant made a statement by smashing unbeaten 128 off just 63 balls against a quality bowling of SRH. Pant smashed 15 fours and seven sixes during his stay.
Fastest Century: Only four batsmen managed to register the three-figure mark in the league stage. Chris Gayle playing for KXIP was the first batsman to reach the milestone. CSK’s Shane Watson, however, was the fastest to score a century. The former Australian cricketer took 51 balls to compact the ton. Pant, on the other hand, took 56 balls.
Fastest Fifty: KL Rahul was in superb form throughout the season. In his first outing for KXIP, the talented right-hander smashed fifty of just 14 balls- fastest-ever in IPL history. Rahul bettered Yusuf Pathan and Sunil Narine’s 15-ball fifties sacred in 2014 and 2017 editions respectively.
Most Fifties: SRH captain Kane Williamson managed to score eight half-centuries from 14 matches, the most in this season so far. He averages impressive 60.09 and has a couple of matches more up his sleeve to better his stats. KL Rahul and AB de Villiers are at second with six fifties each.
Best Bowling Figures: KXIP’s Ankit Rajpoot is the only bowler to scalp a five-wicket haul in the league stage of IPL 2018. He took 5/14 against SRH and apparently, holds the best bowling figures so far this season.
Most Dismissals by a Wicketkeeper: Dinesh Karthik affected most number of dismissals in the league stage of IPL 2018. The KKR skipper managed to take 13 catches and inflicted three stumping to take his overall tally to 16. MS Dhoni, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul follow with 11 dismissals each.
Highest Partnership: Williamson and Dhawan notched an unbeaten 176-run stand for the second wicket against Daredevils while chasing daunting 188. The duo finished unbeaten on 92 and 83 respectively.
