IPL 2018: Rajasthan Royals Cancel Shane Warne’s Return Ticket, to Stay With Team for KKR Contest
RR’s win over the defending champions has prompted Warne to extend his stay in India.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) have won three back to back matches in the Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018). Courtesy the hat-trick of wins, Royals have kept their chances of qualification for playoffs alive. Currently, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side are placed fifth on the IPL 2018 points table. RR mentor Shane Warne was scheduled to fly back to Australia following RR’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI). However, RR’s win over the defending champions has prompted Warne to extend his stay in India and guide the team in their upcoming match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Royals will be up against KKR on Tuesday in a must-win tie. Warner took to Twitter and announced about his extended stay. “Awesome win from the @rajasthanroyals over the Mumbai Indians tonight. The boys are starting to peak at the right time and the owners have just cancelled my flight so I have 1 more game on Tuesday against KKR !!!!!!!” wrote the former RR captain.
Earlier, ahead of the game against Mumbai Warner took to Instagram and wrote: “Unfortunately my last day being involved with the @rajasthanroyals today as I head back to Australia tmrw [sic]! It’s been great fun being back involved with the #IPL as I had forgotten how intense, wonderful and great this tournament is. What have I learnt ? The modern day batsman in this form of the game have evolved into terrific innovative players with tremendous power. The bowlers need a more aggressive mindset & to think how am I getting the batsman out rather than think containment first. The ground fielding is super athletic & has improved out of sight - but the overall catching can still improve!”
Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the latter’s home venue. Jos Buttler once again dished out an impressive performance as he slammed unbeaten 94 to help Royals chase down 169. The English batsman during his stay smashed nine fours and five sixes.
