Yesterday, at the Eden Gardens, during the match of Kolkata Knight Riders v Mumbai Indians IPL 2018, the on-field umpire N Ananthapadmanabhan came into the spotlight. While Tom Curran was bowling, a legit delivery by him was given a no-ball for overstepping. However, the replay showed that the delivery by Curran was legal and this got Ananthapadmanabhan under the microscope.

Australian cricketer Michael Clarke slammed his decision on Twitter. While replying to one of the journalists who tagged him in his tweet, Clarke wrote, “That’s our job buddy, see it and make a call. Horrible umpiring on this occasion and with all the technology in our game these days it should be overturned.”

The decision evoked an angry response from Twitterati who vented their angers via a tweet. Check out a few tweets, “POOR UMPIRING: The umpire called a no ball from Tom Curran, it showed that the Curran had almost half his foot behind the crease. Curran is saying that he slid and his foot went ahead of the line but it landed inside. But the umpire is not changing his mind @BCCI @IPL #KKRvMI,” read a tweet.

@ShuklaRajiv  instead of spending money on opening ceremony and other shit bring good umpires,” read another tweet.

“Fair play applicable only for players not for this cheaters (umpires)they must be equally fined n banned for match n cut off match fees for poor performance when they have so much of technology avlble..@IPL @ShuklaRajiv action awaits or v continue to see 12th man of MI on field?,” read another tweet.

“Ohh dear!!! another case of bad umpiring this season😡😡😡 or is the ump on to something here🤔🤔🤔,” read a tweet.

It was Ishan Kishan’s inning of 62 runs off 21 balls that led the Mumbai Indians to post a score of 210 runs. The remaining job was done by the bowlers who took wickets at regular intervals. MI bowlers got KKR out on 108 runs and with this, the team reach on number 4 position of the IPL 2018 Points Table.
