Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final of Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL 2018) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sunrisers after finishing on top of the team standings lost to CSK in the Qualifier 1. However, they bounced back in the crucial match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and made it to the finals. From 2013 onwards, SRH replaced Deccan Chargers, who were terminated by the IPL covering council for breaching contract terms. Chargers were the IPL 2009 champions. Sunrisers in their inaugural edition made it to the playoffs. However, for next two subsequent seasons, they failed to go past the league stage. IPL 2016 Final: Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
In 2016 edition, Sunrisers defeated Knight Riders to stay in contention for the final. In Qualifier 2, SRH outplayed now defunct Gujarat Lions to qualify for the finals.
In the final, SRH met Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and in a close contest emerged victorious. Batting first, SRH posted mammoth 208 for seven in their allotted 20 overs after captain David Warner scored 69. In response, RCB despite 114-run opening stand between Chris Gayle and captain Virat Kohli failed to reach the target. Both the openers scored half-centuries and after that RCB kept losing wickets. Meanwhile, SRH will be looking for their second IPL title. Ahead of the season, the team lost captain Warner, who was banned after his involvement in ball tampering. However, the side under Kane Williamson’s leadership has been impressive with skipper leading from the front.
