Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made an impressive comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after two years of absence. The MS Dhoni-led side has forced their way into the final of IPL 2018. The men in Yellow will be up against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium as they look for third IPL title. In nine editions CSK has featured thus far, they have every time made it to the playoffs and that shows how consistent the team has been since the inception of the IPL. CSK happens to be the only time in the history of IPL to win back to back titles (2010 and 2011). As CSK play out yet another final, we take a look back at the finals of IPL 2010 and 2011.

IPL 2010 Final: Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians

In 2010, CSK lifted their first IPL trophy by defeating Mumbai Indians in the final. CSK made it to the final by knocking to defending champions Deccan Chargers in the semifinal (At that point in time playoffs were not included in the IPL). Coming back to the final, CSK, batting first, powered by Suresh Raina’s unbeaten 57 posted 168 for five. IPL 2011 Final: Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

CSK became the first team in IPL to defend a title in 2011 when they outplayed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at home. Batting first, riding on a 159-run opening stand between Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay CSK posted mammoth 205 for five. RCB could only manage 147 for eight and thus lost the match by 58 runs.

Come Sunday, CSK will be looking to equal Mumbai Indians’ record of three IPL title wins. Though CSK have tasted success in only two out of six finals in IPL, they do start as favourites thanks to their hat-trick of wins against Sunrisers this season.
