Team Chennai Super Kings yesterday, celebrated the birthday of their star batsman Murali Vijay. As the ritual goes at the end of their practice match, the team gathered for cutting the cake. Now usually it is MS Dhoni who gets hold of the birthday boy to cake his face, but in the absence of the skipper other teammates stepped in and did the honors.
It was very unlikely of the bowling coach E Simmons to get the ball rolling. He covered Murali’s face with a polythene bag in order to avoid cake on his face and then hair. A moments later as Murali blew the candles on the yellow, a teammate got rid of the bag. Now, this time it was Chinna Thala aka Suresh Raina who rubbed the cake on Murali’s face.
Now we understand rubbing a cake on the face of the birthday boy, but this time it also was Coach Stephen Fleming who also became the scapegoat. Team Chennai Super kings shared the video of the celebrations on social media. They captioned the video, “Hail cake facials! @mvj8 #Flem #SuperBirthday #WhistlePodu.”
Meanwhile, the team yesterday played a practice match at the Chepauk Stadium in the absence of skipper MS Dhoni where Suresh Raina scored 57 runs of 24 balls. Dhruv Shorey made 47 off 30. Suresh Raina was also seen distributing the jersey of the team to their fans.
Meanwhile, the yellow army will play their first match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against Mumbai Indians on April 7. Apart from the regular faces, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir and Monu Singh are the new players in the squad. It would be interesting to watch Dhoni play with the experienced side against the youngsters.
