Last night the Eden Gardens witnessed a cracker of a contest between the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. It was the swashbuckling innings of Ishan Kishan’s 62 off 21 that played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians putting up a huge total. MI posted a big total of 210 and the remaining job was done by the bowlers who scalped wickets at regular intervals and sent KKR packing on a meagre score of 108. This helped Mumbai Indians book the berth in the top 4 slots on the IPL 2018 Points Table. Ishan Kishan was appointed as the Man of the Match.
It was obvious for the team to celebrate the sweet victory. After the team reached the hotel, the players were welcomed with hoots, claps and cake. It was Ishan Kishan who cut the cake. As the ritual goes teammates caked his face and soon the youngster was almost unrecognizable. Team Mumbai Indians shared the video of the celebration on social media.
After the match, Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma was all praises for Ishan Kishan. He said, “Ishan just came in and changed momentum. All credit to him, he was waiting for this knock, wanted to come out. Also for Ben Cutting to come out and finish on a high, he hasn’t got a lot of opportunities, but he backed himself to do that.” Meanwhile, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik blamed the dropped catches. He said, “200-plus is always a big ask. We didn’t bat well enough and who knows what would have happened if we had taken those catches.”
