It’s almost been a month that the IPL 11 has hit the television screens giving us high octane entertainment. So far the IPL 2018 gave us enough close encounters and as we finished almost half of the season, we have a faint idea of which teams will make it to the playoffs. Since it’s a Sunday today, we have a couple of matches scheduled for Day 30. Match number 37 is between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders and 38 is Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals.
This is the first time in IPL 2018 that MI is locking horns with KKR, ditto with KXIP and RR. Match number 37 scheduled to happen at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and 38 which take place at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Before we talk about today’s contests, let’s talk about yesterday where CSK locked horns with RCB & SRH with DD.
Highlights of Match 35 & 36 on May 5, 2018: Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Daredevils
Everything that RCB did last afternoon in Pune against Chennai went wrong. It just looked as if Virat Kohli was still trying to fix the puzzle by finding right combinations. Talk about batting, none of the players apart from Parthiv Patel and Tim Southee entered a double-digit score. Bowling, Yuzvendra Chahal started off with good spells but went all over the place. Fielding, as usual, was sloppy. RCB was guilty of dropping Bravo twice in the game. Full marks to CSK spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh who scalped wickets at important junctures and restricted RCB to a paltry total of 127. It was almost as if the Yellow Army had won the game when they walked into bat and they did. CSK registered a thumping victory against RCB by 6 wickets, thus hurting Virat’s chances for the playoffs.
Brief Scores: Chennai Super Kings 128 for 4 (Rayudu 32, Umesh 2-15) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 127 for 9 (Parthiv 53, Jadeja 3-18) by six wickets
With Delhi Daredevils it wouldn’t be wrong to say that they are in danger as they lost against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The mighty Orange Army dominated Delhi Daredevils at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. At one point in time, DD almost sprung back into the game but Yusuf Pathan’s cameo and Kane Williamson’s innings made an impact and SRH chased 163 with an ease.
Brief Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 164 for 3 (Hales 45, Dhawan 33, Yusuf 27*, Mishra 2-19) beat Delhi Daredevils 163 for 5 (Shaw 65, Iyer 44, Rashid 2-23) by seven wickets
Day 30 Schedule: Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders; Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals
Mumbai Indians are currently on a mission to save themselves in the contest for the playoffs in Match number 37. Whereas KKR on the other hand, are flying high after winning against Chennai Super Kings. In match number 38 we have Kings XI Punjab playing against Rajasthan Royals at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Day 30 Predictions: MI, KKR, KXIP, RR
Now, both matches today have a 60-40 ratio and it is actually difficult to predict the winner. But, because Mumbai has always dominated KKR in previous contests, we feel is MI who could walk away with the last laugh.
Whereas, for match number 38, we would go with the favourites of the season KXIP who would want to come back strongly after losing the match against MI by 6 wickets.
A Look at the IPL 2018 Points Table
As we told you, there will be a massive shift in the IPL 2018 Points Table almost every day. Last night after winning against DD by 7 wickets, SRH has reclaimed the top position on the Points Table with the Yellow Army on number 2. Kolkata Knight Riders are on 3 whereas KXIP features on 4.
