ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 is around the corner. The marquee event is all set to get underway on October 5 in India. The marquee tournament will witness ten teams squaring off against each other to grab the crown. It has been reported by Indian Express that India has finalised their 15-member squad for the forthcoming marquee tournament. It has been known that the selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar flew to Sri Lanka and he had a meeting with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid to select the squad for the global event. The meeting took place on Saturday after the encounter between India and Pakistan in Kandy was called off due to rain.

The team management has stuck with the majority of the players who have been drafted into the team for the Asia Cup 2023. The think tank has pruned the 18-member squad that was picked for the continental tournament and excluded the likes of Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna.

India have stuck with KL Rahul, who is currently recovering from a niggle at the National Cricket Academy.  It has been learnt that he has achieved full fitness and will be flown to Sri Lanka to join the Indian team in the Asia Cup. Also, the team management has selected Ishan Kishan as their second wicketkeeper-option after the southpaw set the stage ablaze with his batting display in the clash against Pakistan in Pallekele. Moreover, India have shown faith in Surykumar Yadav and backed him to come good in the marquee tournament. Though Suryakumar has been magnificent in the T20Is, he has not been able to crack the code in the ODI format thus far. He would look to repay the faith of the team and show his batting prowess in the World Cup.
