Rohit Sharma led India national cricket team suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss in the three-match ODI series at the hands of Sri Lanka after whitewashing them in the T20Is. The 'Men in Blue' were outplayed by the hosts in every department which became the major reason behind their loss. The Indian team wasn't able to play the Sri Lankan spin bowlers despite restricting them to low scores in the first innings. The Indian team is now scheduled to face Bangladesh in the home Test and T20I series. The two-match red ball series will begin from September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Rashid Khan Stuns Richard Gleeson With a Huge Six Over Long On During the Trent Rockets vs London Spirit ‘The Hundred’ 2024 Match (Watch Video).

There will be a lot of changes in the Indian team setup as many players such as Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, Akash Deep, and Ravichandran Ashwin will be returning after a long international break. The three-match Test series will be very essential for Rohit Sharma's men considering the World Test Championship final which is scheduled to take place next year. The Indian team has made it to the final twice but are yet to lift the mace following losses to New Zealand and Australia. Apart from Rohit, Virat Kohli will play an essential role and provide support to the Indian middle order followed by KL Rahul. Shubman Gill is expected to be Rohit Sharma's opening partner whereas Rishabh Pant may be India's first preference in place of Dhruv Jurel.

Axar Patel may be another all-rounder alongside Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin who may make a place in the squad. On the other hand, eyeing Arshdeep Singh's recent performance in the white ball format, he may get a chance with the red ball as well. Shreyas Iyer can mark a place in the side as well, though, his performance in the ODIs against Sri Lanka wasn't up to the mark. Mohammed Shami who has been an ace bowler for India in the past few years may take some more time to make a comeback. In his absence, Mohammed Siraj will have the onus along with Jasprit Bumrah.
