In a historical turn of events, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to go the football way and reportedly introduce home and away jersey concept for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. This year not only India but England, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will also wear shades of blue, while South Africa, Bangladesh and Pakistan will have green jerseys as their home kit. Such resemblance in jerseys might lead to a clash of colours when these teams face each other and therefore it has prompted the ICC to introduce the home and away jersey system.

According to various reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked the Indian team’s jersey sponsor Nike to manufacture a second set of jersey, which might be used if away jersey is introduced in this edition of the World Cup. Apart from the royal blue jersey that the Indian team wears, they will also have an orange away jersey. Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni Unveil Indian Cricket Team’s New Jersey for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and Australia ODI Series.

The Virat Kohli-led side will reportedly wear the orange jersey in their encounters against England and Afghanistan in which they will play as the away team. On the other, India will wear the royal blue jersey in their remaining league fixtures.

Meanwhile, South Africa are speculated to have a yellow jersey and Bangladesh a red jersey. West Indies and New Zealand, on the other hand, will not have an away jersey. The International Cricket Council (ICC), however, are yet to make any official announcement regarding home and away jersey.
