India National Cricket Team vs Zimbabwe National Cricket Team match scorecard: India's quest to usher in a new generation in the shortest format did not get off to the desired start after the Men in Blue were stunned by Zimbabwe in the T20I series opener. Regular loss of wickets and lack of stability in the second innings saw India fail to chase down a meagre target of 116 runs and succumb to a 13-run loss. The bowlers were splendid and it seemed that India had the match in the pocket after Zimbabwe could manage just 115/9 in the first innings. The Indian batting might not have had too much experience in the international circuit, but the players, having played a lot of T20 cricket, were expected to nail the run-chase and hand the Men in Blue a series lead. But that was not how things happened, as the Indian batting fell flat against an inspired bowling effort by Sikandar Raza and his men. Zimbabwe, in contrast, were superb with the ball in hand. Their batting was not too convincing and they could only get to that total courtesy of wicketkeeper-batsman Clive Madande's 29* off 25 deliveries. The hosts would be proud of how they bowled as they struck at regular intervals and did not allow India to get their noses ahead even once in the 116-run chase. Eventually, they managed to successfully defend the low total and hand India a first loss in T20Is this year. Zimbabwe would be out to take a 2-0 lead in the series and will hope that they come up with a more clinical performance this time around. Captain Sikandar Raza Expresses Elation After Zimbabwe Stun India in IND vs ZIM 1st T20I 2024, Says ‘Job Is Not Done; Series Isn’t Over’.
