ZIM Win By 13 Runs | India vs Zimbabwe Highlights of 1st T20I 2024: Sikandar Raza, Tendai Chatara Star As Zimbabwe Stun T20 World Cup Champions in Series Opener

What a win for Zimbabwe! A total of 116 seemed to be easy for India, given the talent they had in their ranks despite the lack of experience but the Zimbabwe bowlers did incredibly well to restrict India! Sikandar Raza did exceptionally well with the ball in hand, taking three wickets and so did Tendai Chatara. Blessing Muzarabani, Wellington Masakadza, Brian Bennett and Luke Jongwe took one wicket apiece as they gain a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. For India, captain Shubman Gill top-scored with 31 runs off 29 balls. This was India's first loss in T20Is this year and the first defeat for India since becoming the T20 World Cup champions! A week ago, the Men in Blue had won the coveted title in Barbados and seven days later, a young Indian team find themselves trailing in the series.  

Zimbabwe have beaten India by 13 runs! What a win this has been for the African nations and the Men in Blue have lost for the first time in T20Is  this year! Washington Sundar had a lot left on his shoulders and he could not get the team past the finish line. A famous win for Zimbabwe against the T20 World Cup champions! 

India now need 16 runs in the final over of the match and Washington Sundar has to be the man to do it. The left-hander did hit a six and a four and the Indian team would need him to do that on a number of times in this last over if they are to chase this down and avoid a shock loss to Zimbabwe. It has been an inspired bowling performance from Zimbabwe and they will look to seal a win.

OUT! The wheels are falling off quickly for India in this run chase as they now lose their seventh wicket. Sikandar Raza's delivery was missed by Ravi Bishnoi with the DRS showing that it would have hit the stumps. OUT! Dhruv Jurel perishes in an attempt to hit a second four off the 10th over. The first one was a lovely cover drive but this time, the Wessly Madhevere took a good catch. OUT! India lose another wicket and it is Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has to depart! Blessing Muzarabani's delivery on the off-stump line was edged to first slip by Ruturaj Gaikwad with Innocent Kaia taking a good catch. India have lost two wickets early and need a partnership. OUT! Abhishek Sharma has been dismissed for a four-ball duck on his T20I debut! The left-hander was keen on getting the first run but was unable to get past the fielders. On the fourth ball of the over, the southpaw attempted a big shot and Wellington Masakadza ended up taking a good catch in the deep. Zimbabwe have managed just   runs after being put to bat first by Shubman Gill. The batters got off to a steady start but the slow bowlers picked up wickets in a heap to help India put the brakes on the run-scoring here. Ravi Bishnoi was the best of the Indian bowlers, taking four wickets while Washington Sundar also chipped in with two wickets. Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan had one wicket each. After being in big trouble at 90/8, it was Clive Madande who scored 29 runs off 25 balls, hitting four fours to help Zimbabwe post 115/9. 

OUT! Ravi Bishnoi has castled Blessing Muzarabani with the right-hander opting for a big hit and missing the ball completely. OUT! Ravi Bishnoi has struck once again, dismissing Luke Jongwe. Zimbabwe has lost a heap of wickets in a short span of time, and now the leg-spinner has a third wicket in this contest. Jongwe was struck in front and a review could not save him. India will look to close this innings as early as possible, with the home side having just two wickets left. OUT! Washington Sundar is into the wickets now and he has dismissed Dion Myers. Zimbabwe's batting is falling apart here with the side sliding further into trouble. A run out and Zimbabwe lose their fifth wicket. Johnathan Campbell tapped the ball and set off for the run and Washington Sundar collected the ball and threw it to Avesh Khan at the non-striker's end with Dion Myers making his way into the crease at the striker's end. OUT! A big blow for Zimbabwe this as Sikandar Raza departs! The Zimbabwe captain opted for a big shot but only ended up hitting it high in the air. Ravi Bishnoi went on to hold on to a good catch as Avesh Khan has his first wicket. This wicket has hurt Zimbabwe's chances of a fighting total. 

Dion Myers and Sikandar Raza are out in the middle for Zimbabwe and both the right-handers would look to build a partnership of some significance for Zimbabwe. India have taken wickets at regular intervals and kept things tight, not letting the hosts hit the boundaries consistently. A good partnership here for Zimbabwe can help them finish with a good total that can pose a tough challenge for India.
