India defeated Bangladesh in their last T20I series while West Indies faced 2-1 defeat against Afghanistan in their last assignment in the game’s shortest format. With ICC T20 World Cup 2020 scheduled in October next year, teams are preparing for the big event well in advance. Meanwhile, as India and West Indies get ready to face-off in an exciting three-match T20I series, we bring to you some records and stats from the past.

1- IND vs WI head-to-head in T20Is: India and Windies have met each other 14 times in the game’s shortest format. The Men in Blue leads the head-to-head record with eight wins. Windies, on the other hand, have won, five games. One match between the two sides produced no result as the game was abandoned due to rain. In India, the two sides have met four times in T20Is with the home team emerging victorious thrice.

2- Highest/lowest total in T20Is in India: Afghanistan’s record total of 278/3 against Ireland came at Dehradun, their makeshift home venue. Apparently, it is the highest team total in T20Is on Indian soil. 3- India’s record at home in T20Is: India has a win percentage of 58.53% in T20Is when playing at home. In 41 T20Is, the Men in Blue have won 24 matches and lost 17. West Indies has played 12 T20Is in India and has won six of them, including the final of the 2016 T20 World Cup.

4- Best bowling figures in T20Is in India: In the recently concluded T20I series against Bangladesh, India pacer Deepak Chahar took record six wickets for just seven runs at Nagpur and these happen to be the best bowling figures in T20Is not just in India but overall.

5- Highest individual score in T20Is in India: Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai’s unbeaten 162 against Ireland is the highest individual score by a batsman in India in T20Is. He achieved the feat earlier this year in February during the T20I series between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will return to lead the team for three T20Is against West Indies. Kohli was rested for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Kieron Pollard, on the other hand, continues to be Windies T20I captain.
